When you call the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles, you are asked if you want the recording in Spanish or English. Then, you immediately are able to listen to a directory map of about five choices. The options are very clear and make it easy to navigate to the right agent. I needed help filing for a replacement title, as mine was lost in a fire, and I needed it to file an insurance claim. My goal in calling was to find out the necessary information so I could gather it before going in person.
I called the Delaware DMV around 3 p.m. on a Friday, so I expected that there may be some type of wait, but it wasn't bad. I was on hold for less than 5 minutes when someone picked up. I appreciated that the directory map was not complicated. After choosing the title option, I was given a few more options and was able to simply stay on the line to talk to a customer service representative for other situations. While everyone complains the DMV is slow, I found the process quite easy to follow and not time-consuming at all.
It is worth noting that when I looked up the Deleware DMV website, I saw that they had a live chat available during their customer service hours too. I prefer to talk to someone when the option is there, but if I were at work and unable to have a phone conversation, the live chat option would have been a great backup. It is also worth noting that they have longer hours on Wednesday so that is a great time to call for customer service for those who have to wait until work ends to get some help.
Once I was connected to a human, I had a nice conversation with a native-speaking male who was friendly and easy to talk to. He was clear with his answers and made sure that I knew every document I would need to file my lost tile claim. He looked up my name quickly and located my car registration to help walk me through the process. I didn't feel rushed at all throughout the process, and he waited for me to jot down a few notes while walking me through the process. I wouldn't hesitate to call the Deleware DMV again if I had to.
