I visited LA Fitness on Signal Butte today but forgot my membership card. Brandy, the manager, asked for my ID, which I didn't have, so I provided my husband's email as he is the main member. She insisted I download the app and seemed unwilling to assist further. After showing my picture, she implied I was dishonest for not providing my husband's email directly. Another member behind me was let in without any ID checks. Brandy's dismissive behavior made me feel embarrassed and belittled. Despite being a member for almost 5 years, I was treated poorly. I noticed negative reviews about her on Yelp. The hand gesture at the end felt disrespectful. I plan to share my experience widely and consider escalating this issue. Her differing treatment based on race was clear and unacceptable.

I recently relocated to Miami and decided to try out LA Fitness in Coral Gables, which is the closest club to me. On Monday, June 21 at 5 pm, I arrived for the 5-day trial advertised on their website. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The service I received upon entering was lackluster. The staff at the bar and front desk seemed disinterested and unhelpful. After a 15-minute wait, I was finally approached, but was immediately questioned about my residency and intentions, which left me feeling unwelcome. Despite being allowed to use the gym that day, I declined and left feeling disheartened. As someone who just moved and was looking for a gym, this was the rudest customer service encounter I have ever had. It's frustrating to be doubted and accused of seeking freebies when all I wanted was to try out the advertised 5-day trial, as stated on their website alongside many other clubs.

I am writing to address an incident that occurred while I was at LA Fitness. A member accused me of recording her and threatened to involve the police, which is distressing, especially given the current climate for African Americans. When I approached Fadi Alzaidy for assistance, I was shocked to be asked to avoid the guest, considering my long-standing membership. This experience, presumably due to my skin color, is unacceptable. I have never faced such a situation at LA Fitness before, and I urge for a thorough investigation. Speaking with Fadi Alzaidy and Christian DeHaven at the front desk, I requested the member's information for resolution. Her potential actions would fall under the new Karen Act in California, which protects individuals against false accusations. As a loyal member, I trust that this matter will be handled appropriately. For reference, my membership is linked to Cecil Stevenson at [redacted], and my updated contact number is [redacted]. I appreciate your attention to this matter and await your response. Thank you.

As a cash-paying customer, I reached out to the supervisor at the Rosemead location regarding a refund for late and annual fees due to a misunderstanding during signup. I was initially told over the phone that I could settle the matter at a closer location, but upon my arrival, I was informed that refunds could only be processed with a card, which required me to come back to Rosemead. This contradictory information left me feeling frustrated and suspicious of the supervisor's intentions. The whole ordeal has left me feeling disgusted and disappointed with LA Fitness. I am a frequent traveler in need of a reliable gym and had intended to be a long-time customer. Unless this issue is promptly resolved by bringing my account up-to-date or honoring the initial deal, I may have to take my business elsewhere due to the inconvenience and extra costs incurred during my visit.

Hello, my name is Makyla C. I signed up with LA Fitness on July 17th, selecting the gym located at [redacted] Maple Ln Troy, MI [redacted] as my home gym with a basic $35 monthly membership. Recently, I was offered a free session with a personal trainer named Al on August 6th, who then pressured me into a personal training package. Initially, he tried to lock me into a 12-month contract, but I requested a 6-month agreement instead, which was eventually agreed upon by his boss. Despite his insistence, I discovered LA Fitness has a 3-day cancellation policy for personal training. When I tried to cancel within that time frame, I was misled by Al who claimed it wasn't possible until I paid a penalty. Later, LA Fitness customer service confirmed the grace period, acknowledged Al's misinformation, and promised a refund. The lack of transparency and poor customer service from both Al and LA Fitness have left me disheartened and considering other options. I hope to resolve this matter promptly without further escalation. Thank you.

I have been a member for nearly six years and even invested in a personal trainer. Due to relocating and knee troubles, I haven't visited in almost a year. After calling to cancel a few weeks to a month ago, I was assured no further charges would occur. However, I was recently billed not only the regular $[redacted] and $55 trainer fee, but also an unexpected $10 charge. Customer service explained that an email wasn't sent as promised, so I won't be refunded this money. This error caused financial difficulties for me. I am disappointed by this treatment as a long-time customer and will be sharing negative feedback about LA Fitness. I am requesting a refund of nearly $[redacted].00.

The gym has faced numerous issues like running out of towels due to washer problems and limitations on towel distribution. Problems with the restroom being out of service due to clogging, broken toilet paper dispensers, and dirty facilities have been persistent. The cleanliness of showers, floors, and equipment has been lacking, with additional complaints about employees not focusing on maintenance tasks. The gym's offerings for $39/month include essential items, but their consistent availability has been a concern. Members have complained about various maintenance issues, lack of disinfectant spray bottles, and unaddressed complaints to the staff. The writer hopes for improvements and requests a membership discount until the gym resolves these issues.

I have been a member at LA Fitness since February 23, [redacted], paying $29.99 per month. On July 30, [redacted], I added my son to my membership and was charged $53.22. Subsequently, on August 23, [redacted], I was charged $59.99 for both memberships. However, on September 7, [redacted], I removed my son from the account due to him not using the gym. I spoke with Ian Barnum, the manager at the Southfield, MI location, regarding reverting to my original $29.99/month membership. Though he tried to correct it, the membership was reduced to $39.99/month. Mr. Barnum assured me he would contact me with a solution by 1:00 pm EST on September 8, [redacted], but didn't. I called back later, and he was gone for the day, providing the corporate number. Despite no resolution yet, I hope to be reinstated to the $29.99/month fee by my next billing cycle on September 23, [redacted]. Thank you - Eric Tucker

About a month ago, I discovered that I would be departing on a work assignment for three months. I contacted LA Fitness on South Lamar in Austin and spoke with a male who identified himself as a manager. Explaining my circumstances, I requested to cancel my membership due to my upcoming absence from town. The manager suggested switching to a plan allowing workouts at other locations, but I declined since there was no nearby LA Fitness where I was going. After verifying my details on the screen, he assured me he would handle the cancellation. He omitted mentioning that I needed to contact customer service myself. Unfortunately, I can't recall his name as this took place over a month ago.

I recently updated my billing information to pay for my gym membership. I paid the $30 fee last Friday. However, when I checked my bank account this morning, I noticed an unauthorized charge of $[redacted] by LA Fitness, which caused my account to go into the negative. Due to the unexpected charge, I unknowingly made five more transactions, resulting in $38 overdraft fees each. I would appreciate it if the $[redacted] could be refunded to my account to help balance it. I have no issue with paying legitimate charges; I just wish I had been informed beforehand so I could ensure sufficient funds were available.

I have a suggestion that may help attract more people back to your clubs. Prior to the pandemic, I had a membership for nearly a year. Despite your club reopening and any incentives you offer, I won't return unless some changes are made. I'm not alone in feeling this way; I even heard similar concerns from another lady during our outdoor weekly coffee chat. Living in Texas, where many are unvaccinated and debates about kids in schools and masks persist, the situation varies between areas. In Austin, particularly among the wealthier residents, there's a higher compliance with vaccines and masks. In contrast, suburbs and some younger individuals are more hesitant about getting vaccinated. For older individuals or those at higher risk, the presence of unvaccinated individuals and lax mask-wearing at your clubs poses a significant health risk. Requiring vaccines or implementing "vaccinated only" days, especially in the mornings when the air is fresher, could greatly improve the safety of your clubs. Presently, many responsible individuals view "health clubs" as high-risk environments for contracting Covid.

Subject: Concerns about LA Fitness Membership and Personal Training Subject: Contract # QRXKMQZM9Z4 / Member ID: QRXH5DXWB9B Dear SF Fitness, I am writing to address my experience with LA Fitness since joining in March. Upon relocating and joining the gym, I interacted with Ryan, the Fitness Director in Oakland Park. He guided me through membership options and suggested personal training for goal achievement. Excited, we processed the paperwork promising flexibility with the contract. During sessions, Ryan recommended incorporating steroids into my routine, even sharing details for acquiring them. Following a schedule change, I worked with another trainer, Will, who proved inconsistent in scheduling sessions. After expressing discontent and attempting to cancel, Ryan demanded a $[redacted] buyout fee, which left me dissatisfied with the service. Due to personal circumstances, I requested a membership freeze, though charges continued. I appeal for the cancellation of my training contract without penalties post-March and reimbursement for subsequent charges. Additionally, I hold LA Fitness responsible for the unprofessional behavior displayed and seek appropriate resolution. I am eager to discuss this matter promptly. Thank you, Juan A. Ochoa

Subject: Urgent: Complaint regarding personal training experience at LA Fitness Contract: QRXKMQZM9Z4 Member ID: QRXH5DXWB9B To Whom It May Concern, My name is Juan A. Ochoa, and earlier this year, I joined LA Fitness after relocating from California. Upon joining, I interacted with Ryan, the Fitness director at the Oakland Park branch, who was welcoming and informative about membership options and the benefits of personal training. After signing up for membership and personal training sessions, I quickly encountered issues. Ryan suggested incorporating steroids into my routine, which made me uncomfortable and later became inconsistent with training appointments. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to him and requested to cancel, I was informed of a $[redacted] buyout fee. Feeling misled and taken advantage of, I reached out to customer service to pause my membership due to an upcoming surgery. Despite only attending a few sessions, I have been charged multiple times, including what seems to be an initiation fee. The unprofessional conduct of the training director has left me disillusioned, and I seek to cancel my training contract without penalties and receive reimbursements for charges incurred after March. I also believe LA Fitness should be held accountable for the behavior displayed. I urge prompt attention to this matter and request escalation to the appropriate authority within LA Fitness. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, Juan A. Ochoa

I am a member at LA Fitness in Clark, New Jersey, along with my friends, to access the Racquetball Courts. Nevertheless, for the past 4 weeks, the air conditioning in the courts has been either switched off entirely or blowing warm air. This has created a discomforting temperature making it challenging to play. Although the rest of the facility has functioning AC, the lack of cool air circulation in the courts persists. We have made numerous complaints to the staff on several occasions per week, yet the issue remains unresolved. The confined space and lack of proper air circulation in the court pose a risk for COVID transmission, especially with multiple players inside during classes or games. Your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mark Londregan.

I have reviewed my bank statements and found a charge for a membership I was not aware of. Please send me the latest membership card and provide details on how long this membership has been active. I noticed charges since the beginning of the year and am investigating further. Thank you for your cooperation.

When I renewed my membership, I was informed that I could use any LA Fitness facility, including the Signature one I usually went to. The original gym in North Doff and De Soto is undergoing reconstruction and has not yet reopened. I have been going to the one on Victory and Canoga for four months now. They mentioned I might be asked for a $5 fee, but I never had to pay it until today. When I arrived, they requested the fee, and I am unsure if this is accurate. The corporate office near my home is still closed, so the Woodland Hills location is the nearest option for me to work out.

Yesterday, I visited LA Fitness to redeem a free 3-day pass but ended up feeling pressured by a sales representative. He insisted I sign up immediately at a special rate, claiming it wouldn't be available later. Despite my hesitation, he pushed me to lock in the price without showing me any paperwork. Unaware of additional fees for the following month, I roamed the overcrowded gym seeking a place to exercise. I had hoped to work on my rehabilitation after a car accident, but the limited and malfunctioning equipment added to my frustration. The small space also left me worried about COVID-19 precautions. I regret not being more informed about the gym's size and features before committing to a costly membership.

I was advised by employee Amaridia to contact this number to update or adjust my membership. I found her attitude to be unpleasant and unprofessional, as she seemed condescending towards me. It would enhance customer satisfaction if the same positive energy used to attract clients is maintained throughout interactions. During the Black Friday promotion, my fiancé and I signed up for $34.99 a month with 2 guests, but my contract states $36.99 per month for one guest. I am willing to pay the extra amount; I just need to have the second guest included in the membership.

Good morning. I am looking for assistance with obtaining a refund for my gym membership and the payment made for an instructor. During my initial visit to the gym, I inquired about services in Spanish, ensuring there were Spanish-speaking staff and instructors available. However, upon returning a week later, the person assisting me was on leave until November 29, delaying my membership and instructor payment. After waiting patiently, I discovered there was no Spanish-speaking instructor available as promised, prompting my request for a refund for both the membership and instructor fees. I have not utilized any services at the gym due to this miscommunication. I kindly request your support in facilitating the reimbursement process. Thank you.

I had a contract with LA Fitness that was supposed to end in August [redacted]. When I went to the gym in August to confirm it was my final month, the staff assured me I wouldn't be charged further. However, I noticed I was still being billed for membership until October, despite not using the facilities. After returning to the gym, I was given a cancellation receipt. Can I request a refund for the three months they erroneously charged me?
