What Do I Do If My Gap Gift Card Balance Won't Load?

Gap has an online tool for quickly and easily checking your gift card's current balance. If you tried using it only to discover that it either can't find your gift card or it displays an incorrect balance, you have a problem to fix before using the card again. There are a few different things that could be wrong. This article will teach you about them.

Double Check the Gift Card Number and PIN

If the tool seems to work OK but can't find your card in its system, you may just have accidentally entered the gift card number and/or PIN incorrectly. Double check them and try again. You can find both numbers on your physical gift card. Look in the delivery email if you have an e-gift card.

Check Your Internet Connection

If, on the other hand, the balance checker tool doesn't even work at all, your internet connection may be down. Check it. If the connection's fine, just wait a while. Gap's server is probably having issues, and the IT department needs a little while to fix it. If waiting doesn't help, the company might not realize there is a problem. Contact the customer service department and report it.

Look for Indications of Theft or Hacking

If you haven't used the card up yet but the balance tool displays a balance of $0, the problem might be theft. If you have a physical Gap gift card, make sure that it isn't missing. If it is, theft seems like a likely explanation. Contact a Gap representative for help. You might also want to file a police report.

If you have an e-gift card, log in and look for transactions you didn't make. If you find any, you need to change your Gap password immediately, to lock the hacker out of your account. Then make a report to Gap's customer service department. Do so during regular business hours, because you might have to involve people from multiple departments.

Contacting Gap

If you need to file a report or get help, contact a Gap customer service agent. You can reach one by email or phone.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Gap Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
